In 1970, Mayor Jack Courson encouraged the City Council to buy all the land that would become the Memorial Park when it was placed on the market to be sold. Following the development of the front part of the park, all the flags and markers were moved from Parkway Drive to the park.History The Historical Park was officially established on 19, by the unanimously vote of the Leeds Parks & Recreation Board. The purpose of the park would be to call attention to the history and heritage of Leeds.

Buddy Adair has devoted many years as volunteer to the project of establishing the small veterans memorial park area within the park to honor our hometown heroes. The Parks and Recreation Department is department of the local municipal government operated by permanent, fulltime staff, with the assistance of volunteer citizens advisory board.

These dedicated employees spend their days maintaining the City Parks listed below.

John The Landscape Department is part of the Parks Department. Aaronville Park is located on the side of Foley along Highway This department also plants, fertilizes, and cares for trees and seedlings in the City, including the Chinese Pistache along Highway and the Drake Elms on the four corners of Laurel and Alston, as well as other areas around the City. Landscape Department The City of Foley Landscape Department is part of the Parks Department.

The Landscape Department is valuable asset to the Revitalization and Beautification Board, as they assist the Board with various landscape and seasonal decorating projects.

The Aaronville pool is open during the summer months when public school is out from until and from until on Annual Community Events such as Arbor Day, Christmas in the Park, and civic activities such as the Chili Cook Off.
